Everything you need to know about proof photos, receipts, automatic payments, and the customer experience — written in plain language.

Getting started
What NiceYard does, what customers see, and how to run your first job end‑to‑end.
How does NiceYard work (in one minute)?
You finish the job, snap a proof photo, and charge the customer. NiceYard sends a clean receipt + the proof photo by SMS. If the customer saved a card, payments can run automatically.
  • Proof is attached to every charge.
  • Receipts are stored per job.
  • No app required for the customer.
Do customers need to download an app?
No. Customers interact through text messages. They receive proof + receipt, and can tip or save a card from the payment flow.
What is "proof" and why does it matter?
Proof is an after photo tied to the charge. It reduces disputes, builds trust, and gives customers confidence that the work was completed.
Payments
Charging, autopay, tips, and what happens when a customer doesn't respond.
What if a customer doesn't pay right away?
You can resend the request. If the customer saved a card and enabled autopay, the payment can run automatically after the proof photo.
How do tips work?
Customers can add a tip right after seeing the proof photo and receipt. It's designed to be a one‑tap "thank you" inside the same flow.
Can I save a customer's card for future jobs?
Customers can choose to save their card during payment. Saved cards are used to speed up repeat jobs — the customer can pay from a text without re‑entering details.
Receipts & proof photos
Receipts are more than a charge — they're a record tied to the job.
What's included in a receipt?
A receipt includes the customer name, amount, date/time, service line items (e.g., Mow), and the attached proof photo. It’s designed to reduce “what was this charge for?” moments.
Can I attach multiple proof photos?
Yes. Use multiple photos for larger jobs (front yard, back yard, clean‑up piles). More clarity equals fewer questions.
What if I accidentally attach the wrong photo?
It's impossible to attach the wrong photo. We use geo-tagging to confirm the correct client on the job site. We don't allow photos to be attached, landscapers have to snap a photo on the job site.

Because proof is captured as a snap on the job, you can't upload/attach from your camera roll later.
  • If the payment request is still pending, cancel it and resend a new request with the correct snap.
  • If it's already paid, contact support and we'll help you document what happened (and keep the customer record clear).
Add a client
Set a customer up once. NiceYard handles every job after.
How do I add a client?
  1. Enter the client's name and mobile number
  2. Enter the job address (required)
  3. Set what you want to earn per mow
  4. Tap Save

The client is now ready for billing.

Charge a client
One tap. One photo. Payment handled.
How do I charge a client?

Step 1: Tap Snap to charge

The Snap to charge button is available throughout the NiceYard app.

Step 2: NiceYard identifies the customer

  • Uses geo‑location to determine which customer you're at
  • Selects the correct client and card on file
  • Prevents accidental mis‑charges

Step 3: Take the proof photo

Take an after photo of the completed job. This photo becomes the proof tied to the payment.

Step 4: The charge happens automatically

  • The customer's card is charged
  • A receipt with the proof photo is sent by SMS
  • The payment is recorded instantly
